While many of our Janome sewing machines, such as the Janome 3160QDC model pictured below, have horizontal spool pins on which to place the spool of thread...
others have vertical spool pins, like on the Janome Continental M8.
Vertical or horizontal, most machines have two spool pins; one to thread the needle and the other, often referred to as a detachable auxiliary spool pin, is to place another spool of thread to either wind the bobbin without having to unthread the needle, or in order to use a twin needle, which requires two spools of thread.
When doing machine embroidery, however, it's super convenient to have more than just two spool pins available so we can load up many spools of many thread colours used in a design in order to save time.
Enter the Janome Spool Stand! There's a few different options available from your fabulous Janome dealer.
BRAND NEW and IN STOCK in our Janome Canada warehouse is the Janome Spool Stand for Oscillating Hook Machines, Part Number: 202513003, as described below. This allows you to use larger cones of thread with your mechanical machine, which often have two vertical spool pins placed close together at the back of the machine. This is a terrific addition to your sewing set up allowing you to do more with your machine!
The Janome 2 Thread Spool Stand, Part Number: 859429016 has, you guessed it, 2 spool pins and a telescoping thread guide which allow you to use spools and cones of thread vertically. This spool stand is compatible with a variety of machines, so click on the link above for more details.

The Janome 5 Thread Spool Stand, Part Number: 859430009 is especially useful for use with embroidery machines. Click on the link above to see the list of compatible machines. The spool stands are also helpful to use if you're experiencing thread breakage as the vertical spool pins and telescoping thread guide allows the thread to uncurl and relax more before it goes into the tension assembly and down to the needle.
