"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32 (King James version)
Denial is a dangerous thing.
Quite a few churches lately have had to face the truth that their pastor is not the person they thought they'd chosen to shepherd their salvation. If the church does not embrace the truth, it will become a toxic space where members worship a person instead of a deity.
Political parties who deny their candidate is problematic can cause us to lose our freedoms and our democratic form of government. Just as there are Republicans who refuse to believe Trump is a cancer willing to destroy the country to enrich himself, there are Democrats who refuse to believe Biden is not a viable candidate. His inner circle knew Biden wasn't healthy. Party leaders ignored polling that said he wasn't a strong candidate. When Robert Hur's report was released, the re-election team went on the offensive and said Hur was lying about Biden being a feeble old man. So the Trump team set a trap and the Biden team walked right in.
By now we've all seen the video. Biden looked frail and confused. Trump stood on stage and rattled off a bunch of bullshit, but he looked far more energetic then even the Biden at the Friday rally touted as a comeback. Neither came off as leadership material for the free world.
Biden and his advisors may think they can overcome this, but the rest of us are wondering what the hell is happening here and why can't they see the truth about the Emperor's new clothes?
This is the power of denial.
