Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.
(Matthew 13:22 (NIV))
It is a fine line that we walk. This line is defined by a sincere faith and desire to do what God truly calls us to do.
What happens if the deception of monetary rewards makes us take our eyes off of Jesus and look to the world?
It is easy to fall into the trap of the treasures that the world has to offer. Each of us must take a serious look at our motives for doing things. It is true that God desires to bless us, but when the blessings become more important to us than the salvation and the relationship we have with Jesus, then we have lost our first love.
Don't be like the seed that falls among the thorns!
Once the seed takes root, be sure that it has plenty of room to grow and mature. Don't let it be choked out by the worries of this world.
Is the seed that you received bearing fruit?
