Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
(2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV))
How good is your vision?
Are you able to see what you "fix your eyes on?"
As humans, we have different senses that we use to navigate this physical world. We see, hear, touch, taste and smell our way through what we consider to be our existence, but, I would venture to say that there is more to this life than we can see. There is more to our existence than a few years in this physical world. As such, we must learn to see beyond what our physical senses tell us. We must learn to be able to discern the truth that is unseen.
We must learn to seek and to see the Lord!
If we only see what is physical, then we are tied to the very sin that has plagued humanity since the fall from grace.
We must learn to shift our priorities, our focus, to see things of eternal value.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
(Romans 3:23 (NIV))
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23 (NIV))
We must learn to see things as Jesus sees them. We must learn to see things that are eternal and that lead to life while we learn to ignore things that are physical and that lead to death.
It is a matter of priorities. It is a matter of focus. We want to learn how to make the things of this world grow strangely dim in the light of His wonderful grace.
Have you learned how to see the unseen?
