Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
(John 8:32 (NIV))
Just what is truth?
If you believe many elements of our society, truth is relevant. What is true for one may not be true for all.
Let's stop there for a moment and consider what Merriam-Webster has to say about the definition of the word "truth."
(1) : the body of real things, events, and facts : ACTUALITY
(2) : the state of being the case : FACT
Based on these two statements, what society is claiming is nothing more than a complete and utter twisting of words. In essence, these elements of society are stating the what is real and factual is fictitious and a lie. At the same time, they are saying that many lies can all be equally relevant if you simply believe that they are.
If you have professed a faith in Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you know with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your soul that there is only one truth and His name is Jesus!
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
(Acts 4:12 (NIV))
With this said, I feel that I need to ask this question one more time.
Just what is truth?
I believe that God's truth can be summarized like this.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
(Romans 3:23 (NIV))
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23 (NIV))
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16 (NIV))
Is this the truth that you cling to, that you believe?
Have you been set free by what you believe?
