Week 26 of 52. I'm halfway through my Year of Joy, of finding the gentle pleasures of life, the Fairy Cake Joys, and avoiding the Cupcake Sugar Rush, the rollarcoaster of emotions.
It feels like the right sort of time to have a little break, therefore, and not write very much. It certainly hasn't been written well in advance, nor has it been planned for a while from a previous joy. Both of which kind of defeat the point of what I set out to do, but never mind. It's got me back to writing regularly, though, which was the main aim. Win some, lose some.
Causes of joy this week, then.
1: Potato pancakes made from a Tesco magazine recipe. It was one of those days when the planned meal couldn't happen (baked potatoes, but two of the four in the bag were unusable). An easy and surprisingly filling alternative, which has been noted in the family recipe book.
2: Planning a trip to London, to visit Kew Gardens and the Natural History Museum. And the Moomin shop at Covent Garden.
3: Getting the house tidy and remain so for most of a day. A win when there's a Tiny bent on destruction.
4: Lots of sunshine to dry the washing. It's the small things. The heat has been less pleasant, given the hills I have to walk in order to get anywhere.
