Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
(Psalm 119:105 (NIV))
Do you like walking in darkness?
Think about the last time that the power went out and you tried to walk through your home without being able to see. How many times did you bump into things even though you thought you knew where everything was? I bet you even walked with your hands outstretched in order to feel your way around. I can safely say that your steps where not bold and confident. They were small and uncertain.
It isn't fun!
We rely so much on sight to be able to navigate this world, but we fail to recognize that we need spiritual eyes as well. We need spiritual light to discern right from wrong. We need spiritual light to recognize the darkness that is often right in front of us. Still, far too many of us step boldly and confidently not recognizing that what we are doing will have harmful repercussions not only in our spiritual walk, but also in our physical existence.
We need to see where we are going!
We need God's Word to light our path!
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14 (NIV))
We need Jesus!
Are you walking with Jesus?
Are you walking in His light?
They sound like simple questions, but they require more than just a quick, cursory answer. They require an in depth evaluation of your life and your faith. They may even require you to humble yourself in His sight and repent. It is only possible to walk in His light if you truly are walking with Jesus.
With that said, I have but one more question for you.
Is your path well lit?
