In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
(1 John 4:9 (ESV))
When you think of the word "manifest," you probably think of a list of passengers, or perhaps even a listing of cargo, but have you ever thought of the word as meaning to make evident?
Let's do a simple word swap and see the implied meaning.
In this the love of God was made evident among us!
The evidence of God's love is that He sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
We see the following, yet through different words.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16 (NIV))
What other evidence do you need?
If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, are you sharing that evidence with those whom you meet?
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
(Matthew 28:19-20a (NIV))
Sharing what God has done for you is evidence of what God can do for others? Sharing God's love makes His love manifest among us.
Has God's love been manifested in your life?
