As it was the evening we landed for our business trip, we decided to venture nearby just behind the hotel for a quick dinner since we were all not that familiar with the Gangnam Gu area
Located on the street just behind our hotel, the English name of the restaurant is Boseunghall but it actually reads as Bo Seung Hui Gwan in Korean characters which means Bo Seung Guildhall. This is a chain restaurant specialising in pork ribs hangover soup as well as sundae soup
When we entered, we had no idea what they sold, but we saw soup on the menu and it was freezing, so soup sounded like a fantastic idea. The restaurant was very spacious and brightly lit with quite several local patrons
There wasn't an English menu but the electronic menu had very brief English titles of each dish. As I did not eat beef and my colleague did not eat pork, we wanted to be very sure of the dish we ordered and the staff was friendly to try to explain to us what the dishes were and we realised that most of the items had pork as they specialise in pork dishes. Luckily, there was one ginseng chicken dish which we could order for our colleague
Basic side dishes were served, like cabbage kimchi, radish cube kimchi, and some fermented shrimp and chives, mainly for my pork soup. If you need more of the side dishes, they do have a self-service counter in the middle of the restaurant. The kimchi served was nice and savoury and slightly more salty which was perfect with rice and soup
I ordered the dwaeji gukbap since I really love the dish even in Singapore. The soup was served in a heated clay pot and the soup was bubbling with spring onions already added in for flavour. The soup broth was milky but very light with pieces of pork meat. The pork belly meat was sliced thinly so there was not much of a pork flavour to it and I added an entire plate of seasoned shrimp to add flavours. Personally, I found the soup mediocre but I still welcomed it during a freezing winter evening.
The hangover pork ribs soup came with huge ribs and not so much meat so if you like meat, this dish might be troublesome to eat. The soup base was made from bean paste and there were very nice savoury flavours from the dried radish leaves. The ginseng chicken soup was extremely light and on the verge of bland so it was very necessary to eat the chicken with salt or sesame oil. The meat was very tender and soft whereas the soup was comforting. Personally, I still prefer my favourite shop
Overall, the meals here are ok and not one of the best but for most first-time visitors, they are generally acceptable. For a Korean food veteran like me, it is not comparable to my favourite shops. For a chain restaurant, the price and serving are acceptable for a quick meal if you are looking to settle for a fuss-free meal

I will provide the Google link as the address doesn't seem to point to the correct place on Google maps
