Ruinart Art Lounge at ART SG 2024: Where Artistry Meets Sustainable Elegance

Running from January 19 to 21 as part of ART SG 2024, attendees can indulge in Ruinart's iconic Blanc de Blancs cuvée while immersing themselves in the captivating photos from 'This Constant Burning in the Air' by photographer Matthieu Gafsou.

For its 4th edition, the Prix Maison Ruinart was awarded to photographer Matthieu Gafsou, whose work has graced major photography festivals and fairs worldwide
Given by Maison Ruinart with the backing of the Picto Foundation, this prestigious award acknowledges the talent of emerging photographers selected from the 'Curiosa' section of Paris Photo.
Following an artistic residence in the Champagne region in the summer of 2022, Matthieu Gafsou created a series entitle Cette constante brûlure de l'air (This Constant Burning in the Air).
A minimum of nine of Matthieu Gafsou's photos will be exhibited for the first time in Southeast Asia at the Ruinart Art Lounge. Following an artistic residence in the Champagne region, Matthieu created a series of mysterious, contrasting images inspired by nature and the people working at Maison Ruinart.
With heightened sensitivity, he subtly evokes contemporary concerns about the environment and biodiversity. At first glance, the images he took during the intense summer heat of 2022 show banal scenes of light-hearted tourists, arcadian landscapes and a welcoming town. Absurdity however emerges from the images that he has stained with crude oil to make the constantly burning air palpable. By using a hydrocarbon as pigment, Matthieu reveals what is invisible and expresses the paradox of our times; everything seems so normal, yet our environment is brutally changing.
Maison Ruinart's commitment to the preservation of nature and know-how is historically rooted. Since its inception in 1729, the House has always considered terroir and ancestral know-how as the base for its exceptional wines. Awarding the Prix Maison Ruinart to Matthieu echoes Ruinart's firm stance towards sustainability.

Concurrently, Ruinart provides administrative and financial support to its suppliers in order to achieve dual certification in Sustainable Viticulture and High Environmental Value. Maison Ruinart also makes eco-design and local procurement a priority, for the manufacture of its packaging and presentation material. The eco-design approach has been integrated into all developments since 2012 and the bottle boxes of its cuvées have been eco-designed since 2015.
