"I would pardon Trump if he is found guilty. A leader needs to think about what's in the best interests of the country. What's in the best interests of the country is not to have an 80-year-old man sitting in jail that continues to divide our country. What's in the best interest of the country would be to pardon him so that we can move on as a country and no longer talk about him."
~ Nimarata Nikki Randhawa Haley at a December campaign event in New Hampshire
I was busy in the living room dismantling Christmas when I heard those words wafting from the radio in the kitchen. "What in the actual fuck did that woman say?" I yelled. "They can't even bring the stalling motherfucker to trial and she's already issued the get out of jail free card? She's decided to take the trials out of the hands of the juries. He's been charged with 91 counts. The law of averages says he must be dirty on at least one but that doesn't matter to you, Nimarata. Just nullify the proceedings before opening arguments. Fuck me!"
I don't take Trump news well these days. Trump news more often than not lights the fuse that ignites these kinds of explosions of billingsgate.
I'm not surprised at Nimarata's pledge. I wasn't surprised when Ron DeSantis made the same pledge some time ago. I don't really care that Vivek Ramaswami made the same pledge before the other two hopped on the absolution bandwagon. The two former are semi-serious candidates while Ramaswami is just a crude, ignorant, abusive cipher who's angling for something besides a pipedream presidency. The fifteen minutes of fame that were fifteen minutes too many? A cabinet position? A 2028 run?
