Osulloc Tea House Bukchon

Whenever I visit Seoul, I will always make a trip to the Osulloc tea house to stuff my face with some of their desserts and also break my wallet with their teas, cookies and spread to bring home

I also make it a point to visit a different outlet to see how each outlet is being designed and as I was around the Hanok Village, I visited the nearest Buchon outlet. When I was reading reviews for this outlet, it was described as one of the most beautiful Osulloc outlets and I was half-expecting it to be in the traditional Hanok style but I was extremely surprised that the entire building was designed more like a modern villa. The building was built elevated from the surrounding Hanok buildings giving it a great view of the surrounding areas. Even though the building looked like a modern villa, it had a beautiful courtyard which gave it a traditional natural beauty amongst the concrete structure

The building has a total of 3 floors with the first floor a shared retail space between Osulloc and a cosmetic brand while the 2nd floor is the actual tea house with the main sitting area and a small room which is designed like a traditional Hanok room with cute Octagon-shaped tables. The highest floor was closed for events and also housed a lounge for tea concoctions

As I visited in between meals and another cafe, we could only order the main highlights which seemed unique to this outlet. I ordered the Hallabong smoothie which I don't recall seeing in the other outlet and my friends had the Shancharan Jeju Green Orange Iced Tea. We also ordered the mochi waffles served with ice cream, berries and fresh cream. The soda drinks were refreshing and sweet but personally, I felt the Hallabong smoothie was the winner. The mix of tangerine and bitter green tea ice cream was perfect giving the drink a great balance. I really loved it as it quenched my thirst and the Jeju tangerine flavours really came through very well in the drink

The waffles were made to order so we waited for 15 minutes before it was ready. This was an extremely popular item on the menu as you can see the staff making them non-stop and customers collecting them every 5 minutes. The waffles were hot and toasty on the outside and the mochi filling was soft and chewy which is perfect when paired with either the ice cream or the berries and cream. I really think the waffles were very delicious but also very filling as it could be a meal on its own. Even if you ate the waffle on its own dipping the side dish of honey, it was very delicious

Overall, the atmosphere was very chill at this outlet and it would have been perfect to sit outside and enjoy the Hanok view of the area but it was too hot when I visited and it was really hard to grab a table indoors. The drinks and desserts did not disappoint as well as they were absolutely delicious. This is one of the reasons why I will always visit Osulloc when I am in Korea
