Located within Eco Spring is another popular cafe Morihana that is famous for its highly Instagram-worthy cakes and desserts

Just a stone's throw away from Soil Cafe, we managed to be the first few customers to clock a table at Morihana. Due to the popularity of their cakes and desserts, the seats were almost all taken up the moment the cafe opened for business. The name Morihana is loosely translated to forest flower which is as magical as the design of their building. Looking right out of a children's fairytale book, the cute outline of the building includes a cute chimney which is perfect for pictures

The cafe itself is not huge with a Scandinavian style of decor in the tones of grey and warm wood furnishings. To match the fairytale exteriors of the building, the windows are domed shaped and provide great natural lighting for pictures

As we arrived right at their opening hour, the pastries available were limited so we settled for drinks while we waited for the items we wanted to be delivered from their kitchen. We had the watermelon punch, rose latte and jasmine green tea. The drinks were very colourful, especially the fruit punches and were very refreshing to drink in the hot weather without being overly sweet. The rose latte was also prettily decorated with a circle of dry rose petals complete with the latte art. The flavours were smooth with a tinge of rose aroma. The tea was generic but served in a nice teapot and cute cups

The first cake we tried was the rose watermelon which is the most popular item on their menu. Stacked between dense almond cake was a slice of watermelon which is not commonly found in cakes. The cake was topped with strawberries and lychee as well as flower petals to complete the romantic theme of the cake. While the combination sounds weird, it is surprisingly delicious and refreshing with ingredients complementing each other very well. It is a cake I will not mind going for a 2nd helping

The next item was the Yashi which is made of coconut mousse, passion mango compote, pandan dacquoise and coconut saber cookie. While this dessert was pretty to look at, the flavours were too overwhelming for us as the mix of passion fruit, mango, pandan and coconut was fighting for attention in our mouths

The Matcha Nama Cake was bittersweet as you could taste the deep flavours of the matcha tea and this was a very dense and heavy cake which is extremely filling for the stomach. Made of matcha curd, matcha nama chocolate and fresh strawberry, matcha lovers would love this cake but I would have liked the consistency of the cake to be more fluffy and lighter

Another hot favourite is the Fuji which is inspired by Mount Fuji and is very cute. Made of matcha mousse, matcha nama chocolate and caramel nuts, it is lighter in consistency compared to the name cake. Although they were made of similar ingredients, the use of matcha mousse gave it a lighter finish and was not as heavy to finish

Last but not least, we waited 30 minutes for this Teddy Bear to be ready and it was super adorable and worth the wait. Made of Valrhona caramel chocolate mousse, coffee ganache and salted caramel sauces, this cake was too cute to eat. Shaped like a teddy bear head, you break into a center of creamy ganache and caramel which is sinful and decadent at the same time. While this is mostly chocolate, the cake was surprisingly light and addictive to eat

Overall, I really loved their cakes and desserts and some of the cakes are priced similarly to Singapore cake prices, I feel that they are well worth the price tag as the work in making them so perfectly beautiful is tough. I will visit them again just to have some of their cakes again. A note to Singaporean visitors - you can actually pay using Paynow so you do not have to worry for not having enough Malaysian Ringgit
