Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death.
(1 John 3:14 (NIV))
Do you remember what it is like to dislike someone. Perhaps even to hate someone? This is a trait that is not of God. Paul stated:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
(Galatians 5:22-26 (NIV))
If we have truly accepted Jesus and allowed the Holy Spirit to work within us, then we will be filled with love as a direct result. However, if we do not love, then Jesus has no part of us. This is repeated in many places in the scriptures, yet, many people choose to ignore this simple truth. Love is a choice that we make. The choice is made easier when we allow the Holy Spirit to work within us instead of barring Him from us.
If followers of Jesus are known by our love for others, how would you be known?
Have you chosen to love?
