Driftwood Provincial Park – July 2022 – Part 4

One day we thought we'd try to get into two other non-operational Provincial Parks. One was Bissett Creek Provincial Park and we drove down quite a ways on the road. There are no picnic areas or campgrounds or anything of that nature. It's literally a road driving through the forest but we always stop and investigate the area. For example, above was a rapids and river area we spotted at the side of the road. It was a really pretty spot.

In case you are wondering what is a Non Operational Provincial Park well I'll tell ya. It's land dedicated as a park but there is no camping, no facilities of any kind, no staff, nothing. They were created to protect recreational waterways and nature reserves (which in turn protect rare flora, fauna and other stuff) You take your chances and just go where you want. Sometimes there are trails you can do but other than that, you are on your own. When we go to these type of parks, we rarely, actually generally never, see anyone else.

  • Pretty spot, view from the road
  • We walked through the woods to get to this spot

The other park we went to was Grants Creek Provincial Park . They do have a boat launch at this park but nothing else.

  • Forest Access road
  • Ruffed Grouse

It's always interesting to go down some of these roads, we never see anyone else and it's a lot of fun.

So that is about it for Driftwood Provincial Park, my last post on this park. I would go back to this park for sure. I loved our campsite on the river and there was quite a bit to do in the area.
