The Merseyside Derby is here, as Everton make the short trip across Stanley Park to Anfield. Everton have two motivations for beating us today: 1. They are in a relegation dogfight, and need every point they can get. 2. To stop us, in our chase of an unprecedented Quadruple.
We have had vastly different seasons, and performances on the pitch are chalk and cheese, but Derby day has the potential to throw up surprises so we need to be on it from the get go.
Fitness Update: Our only fitness concern is Roberto Firmino, who picked up a knock against Man City last weekend and subsequently missed the game against Utd in midweek. For Everton, Calvert-Lewin, Gomes, Van De Beek join Patterson, Davies and Townsend on the sidelines.
Prediction: Liverpool 3 - 0 Everton. If recent form continues then we will have far too much for Everton, we have the ability to shift through the gears if need be to take the game out of sight. We need to remember to play the players on the pitch rather than the occasion.
Onto the Starting Line Ups:
On current form, this is our best team. The goalkeeper and defence are self explanatory. In midfield, Keita has surpassed Henderson in the pecking order for me, he has been playing very well. Up front, Mane, Salah and Diaz look devastating together and we will still have the option of bringing Jota and hopefully Firmino from the bench.
Christian and Joe have selected the same team which features one change to the team I selected. Jota starts in place of Diaz.
Christian: Time for the Merseyside derby and there's just so much at stake for both clubs. With Everton battling in the relegation fight, LFC's push for the title continues and it feels like Deja Vu from the last two horse race against City, and they do look strong with another easy win this weekend against Watford. Lampard will probably not pick a fight with Klopp this game but he will fuel up the Blues with all that he can but LFC should still win the game. My starting eleven would be this but Klopp has many other options of formations. COYR.
Joe: I think you are spot on.
Paul: I think Klopp will have an eye on Wednesday and the short recovery period to next Saturday's game away to Newcastle. I see him resting a few key players but I still think we have the strength to batter Everton. Another cup final type game, let's hope the Reds stay focused and get the job done.
There you go folks, our predicted starting line ups. Let us know what you think and enjoy the game.
