For those of us in the United States, all of us are seeing economic inflation and higher prices. None of this is fun. It is a reminder for all us: Christians and Non-Christians we cannot put our trust in money and economies. We live in a very materialistic society that likes to pride itself on financial prosperity. Many Christians get emeshed in this.
We all lived through the 2008 recession. That was a real mess. I personally believe the USA never financially recovered from that recession. In my state of California, I have been watching the destruction of the economy since even before 2008. I have never been financially prepared to ever live on my own and have lived with my grandma since I was 6 years old. I am now 30.
There are multiple reasons the United States is in the financial mess that it is in right now. The failed wars in Afghanistan and Iraq definitely contributed to that, along with the US becoming so dependent on China and outsourcing manufacturing jobs to that country, and the wasteful amounts of foreign aid the US Government flushes down the toilet.
In the end, we are reminded that God's Kingdom is eternal and that is where our hope is. We have Jesus Christ and he has given us Salvation. This planet and its money is temporary and will all fade away. This money will fail us. When we have money, the best investment is towards God's Kingdom. Tithing to your local church for starters.
I am not going to waste my time thinking about how the US Government will end this financial mess. Mostly because I do not believe the US will ever solve it or take the necessary cutbacks it should. have done decades ago. The US Government will never get it right. How blessed we are to serve and worship a God who knows exactly what He is doing and plans always come true!
What makes me sad, is how many professing Christians I know at my church, who are putting their hope in the Republican Party to fix the economy. Putting their trust in fallen men, who also fail. The Republicans (or any Party) are not the answer. Christians should know this.
