A member of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church has taken to social media to pooh pooh some policies of the church regarding marriage to "outsiders", tagging the church as "most hypocritical".
Some SDA churches in Ghana have a policy that any member of the Church marrying a non-SDA will have the church wash off its hands from blessing the marriage or having anything to do with the marriage. The church attends the event as "guests" and has nothing to do with the marriage. However, after the marriage, the church expects Tithe, seed sowing, and regular offering from the new couple.
The marriage officiating rule is reportedly so strict that an SDA pastor who officiates a marriage between an SDA member and a non-SDA will have his/her pastoral license revoked.
According to Obaa Yaa Amponsah, the SDA is the "most hypocritical group ever", with several persons in the comment box agreeing with her as they lost loved ones because of that system.
She believes such a rule is outdated and backward.
"My church SDA is the most hypocritical religious group ever! The church washes it hands off a member and his or her wedding preparation, blessing, and encouragement because the member isn't marrying an Adventist . The church will come as guests, no participation wheresoever… any SDA pastor who tries to bless a wedding between an Adventist and a non-Adventist will be sanctioned, his license as a Pastor will be revoked!
We call ourselves the remnant church, we want to win souls… it's not only by singing and preaching… marriages bring people together, through marriage we can win souls and if we continue like this how will we "pass the MESSAGE to the rest of the world in this Generation"? After the wedding de3 they will accept your tithe and Offering, if your non-Adventist spouse brings money to "help God's work" they will not reject it cos it's from a non-Adventist. No matter your role at church, if you aren't marrying an Adventist, you will be left on your own. No wonder a lot of Adventists who marry non-Adventist stop attending church cos it's way too painful. Let's change that "ChurchManual" let's understand that Salvation can also be gotten through marriage. Mo nyaa twom!!!"
Several persons who commented agreed with her, many of them cited personal examples of how they lost loved ones.

Hmmm….it hurts being a victim of this nonsense thing they call "doctrine" oo.
After 5yrs of being in a relationship with her, we finally decided to take a step forward into marriage, but I was given the option to either leave my church(Lighthouse) and join my lady's church(SDA) or I lose her to another man. Initially, I thought it was a joke, but the joke obviously became a reality in my face!… We called off the relationship because of that.
And I'm just here waiting patiently till we get to heaven and settle this matter in front of God himself sha
Kyer3 s3 according to them, anybody that's not in their church is not clean enough for them to touch. Hypocrite di33 enobi ur church alone, many churches are hypocrites.
My relationship with an SDA lady fell flat because her parents didn't want her to be in a relationship or marriage with a non-Adventist…..
Just yesterday I was telling someone about how I lost an SDA girlfriend, Cox she was told, she can never marry a non-SDA.
She called me one morning to break the news to me and I was so shocked, since then, I've become alert with the SDA people around me. I love them but never would I consider a relationship
It's really sad
Why won't atheists laugh at us??? It's not only them oo. A guy who wanted to be in a relationship with me made that first comment and I left. As if those of us who don't attend their church are devils
So they mean the other churches are unbelievers. Some Christians make it difficult for others to be part of them
My wedding is my rule no church rubbish. I don't even want to wed the pastor or whoever can't decide what I do. My parents and his parents that all. If you won't come to my traditional marriage then that is your business. If my husband attends Methodist am moving to his church period. Pentecost pastor or whoever can't do anything about it, I don't want a wedding and it my business, not the church. God will bless me through my parent's simple and period. That nonsense thing some church do eeeeeeer their time will come. This rubbish won't cross my line sha, if you like take your damn church and I don't give a f****k about it. You are not my parents period. Nsemfu nkoass
my ex girl be said it was it ok to date n do all the harams but marry dier lie lie bcus lm not SDA…
Be specific with the branch of the church that you are talking about, the decision of this branch can't represent the whole church. You can't generalize issues because of your experience with a particular branch.
