The internet is abuzz about SYLFIRM X, and that obviously meant that I had to be one of the first to try it, to see if it lived up to all the hype; and spoiler alert, it does! And once again I will say that no matter how good a treatment or device is, if your medical practitioner sucks, well, so will the treatment, so choose your doctor wisely like I did, if you want good results.

Sylfirm X is the latest FDA approved medical aesthetic device to hit the market! It works by utilising radio-frequency (RF) micro-needling. This basically means that it delivers RF into the skin, via micro-needles which produces controlled micro-injuries within the skin. These injuries stimulates the body to trigger its natural wound healing and collagen production in the treated area.

Here's What Makes It So Special

Sylfirm X has eight different modes and the widest depth range of 0.3 – 4.0mm compared to other micro-needling RF systems in the market. This means that it can be customised to different treatment sites and conditions. For example, during my treatment, Dr Elias Tam from EHA Clinic, adjusted the setting in order to treat multiple conditions on my face and neck, from the mild pigmentation on my right cheek bone, my open pores and sagging eye lids, to my acne pitting.

If you have pigmentation issues and no other treatment has given you the results you desire, you might want to consider trying SYLFIRM X. It has the widest depth range of 0.3-4.0mm among other micro-needling RF systems. A depth of 0.3mm enables it to target the papillary dermis or the upper dermal layer that is located just below the basement membrane, where senescent fibroblasts and type III collagen are largely distributed and all this science is important because it is the ideal depth to target when trying to eradicate stubborn pigmentation.

SYLFIRM X Can Treat A Multitude Of Conditions

The fact that the it can be customised to target different depths within the skin is important as it means that this one machine can target a number of concerns at the same time. So you pay one price, but you get a number of issues fixed. You can't tell me that's not a good deal!

It Targets Pigmentation - using the pulsed wave mode, Sylfirm X can treat all forms of pigmentation including melasma and rosacea. Melasma is caused by hyperactive melanocytes, a damaged base layer of the epidermis, abnormal blood vessels and deteriorating collagen. Sylfirm X targets these root causes of melasma by regulating melanin production, strengthening the base layer of the epidermis, removing abnormal blood vessels and increasing collagen production.

It Targets Scars - acne scars, atrophic scars, hypertrophic scars and stretch marks can all be treated with this machine and two-plus weeks post treatment, I can already see that the acne pitting on my cheeks looks much less obvious.

It Can Be Used For Skin Tightening And Open Pores - it can also tighten and reduce the appearance of visible pores. Even over two weeks later, my pores look smaller. This is because RF which is delivered at 55-60°C into the dermal layer, remodels and tightens lax skin.

It Can Even Be Used For body and scalp treatment - it can be used on most parts of the body to treat scars, stretch marks, sagging and dimpled skin, and can also be used on the scalp to promote hair regrowth by boosting blood circulation and encouraging new growth.

Here's What You Can Expect - Before, During And After

While you will see visible improvements after a single treatment, depending on your skin condition, Dr Tam recommended that at least four treatments are necessary for optimal results.

Treatment Downtime

It is normal to experience some slight redness and swelling post treatment, but this should subside within a few hours. Each treatment will take 30 minutes (not including the 45 minutes required for numbing cream), I would suggest you allocate about an hour plus.

I have tried quite a few minimally invasive medical aesthetic treatments and this has to be my favourite. To be quite blunt, because Dr Tam primarily focussed on my pitted acne scars, he used a stronger and deeper setting for maximum impact and optimal results. This also meant that it hurt.

But the reason it is my favourite treatment is because it worked. It's been just over two weeks since my session and my scars look less obvious. My pores have shrunk, the skin under my eyes looks less lined and dry and all in all, my skin just looks so much better.

Would I recommend the treatment? I truly would. I am so happy with the results that I am considering signing up for a package.
