I'm starting a new category on my blog called "Signs I'm Getting Older". Some realizations may be confronting. Others may be easy to accept and maybe even for the better. Like today.
A couple weeks ago before the lockdown I went to the market and for the first time bought fruit and veg. For some reason I felt so proud of myself. I spent $15 and came back with a big bag of food and literally sent a picture to people I thought would be proud of me. And they were. Proud and impressed. So, it's easy to see why I would be have been excited to go back once I was allowed, which is what I did today.
$20 I spent on this crap. And at the same time, I'm impressed. I don't eat real healthy a lot of the time but there's something about going to a green grocer and buying this stuff direct instead of shopping at a supermarket which is what we usually do.
You can see the quality difference!
The sizes are different.
It looks healthier.
It's cheaper.
And I noticed it lasts longer too. Is that because I'm getting it directly from the source where else supermarkets go through the grower, the delivery dude and it gets dispersed between a couple stores? I'm speculating here. I don't know how this stuff works. But I'm noticing the last time I bought from the market the veggies lasted about 2 weeks in the fridge. Even the cilantro lasted a week later than usual.
I'm also addicted to nuts now. Another sign I'm getting old? Never used to like them and suddenly I can't wait to get every type of nut in my mouth! Brazilian nuts I love! And smoked almonds.
But it pains me how expensive these things are.
Why is everything good for you expensive!?
Don't blame me when I'm fat. It's just cheaper to be!
